Big Bay State Park is open year round. Since the park is located on an island, it is accessible only by boat or by ice. Complete Madeline Island Ferry Line fees and schedule can be accessed at: www.MadFerry.com. During winter, recorded Ice Road conditions and Windsled information can be heard at: 715-747-5400. Bon voyage. No out of state firewood is allowed. Wisconsin firewood from more than ten miles outside any Wisconsin State Parks and Forest property will not be allowed to be brought onto the property. The park is open for camping all year round. Reservations can be made up to 11 months ahead of time. Most campsites are reservable for camping on April 15th through November 1st. Reservations are highly recommended for 3 different periods of the year: (1) Memorial Day Weekend, (2) mid-June through Labor Day, (3) Bayfield's Apple Fest (early October). Campsites 26-30 available year round Campsites 1-25 available April 1, 2015 until November 30, 2015 Campsites 31-60 available May 15, 2015 until October 15, 2015 Reservation season is May 15, 2015 through October 15, 2015 Shower/flush toilet building opens approximately May 22, 2015 Shower/flush toilet building closes approximately October 5, 2015 Dump station (operated by the Town of La Pointe and located by the airport) opens approximately mid-April 2015 Dump Station (operated by the Town of La Pointe and located by the airport) closes approximately end of October 2015 These facilities are weather dependent and dates can change.
